Childrens Books: Help With Obesity
Obesity is a growing problem for children and adults alike. Part of the problem is fast food. The other problem is that people just arent as active as they used to be. The advent of technology means that children dont even have to leave the house to play video or computer games. In the old days, kids had to go to an arcade to play games.
To get your child on track for losing weight you can encourage him to go for walks. If you live near a park or a woods, you can take the time to explore nature. You can find books such as Jeramiah Stokely, Naturalist by Alan K. Garinger that tells you a bit about nature. You can order a kit that comes with a journal and poster to help you identify plants, birds and animals.
Eating right is another way to lose weight. Kids these days are bombarded by images from rock videos and commercials that relay contradictory images. Thin people are shown eating fast food. Children of both sexes may develop eating disorders. You can find books that can help children with food addiction. Gentle Eating: Getting Your Power by Skipp Souvain may be helpful in helping you or your child deal with eating issues.
Set an Example
If you are trying to overcome obesity, it may help to keep in mind that it is your job to set an example for your children. In other words, try to encourage your child to eat properly by eating right yourself. Keep the fridge filled with fruits and vegetables. Dont skip breakfast and reach for a glass of water instead of a glass of pop. Not only can you both lose weight, but you may save some money on dental work as well.
